Comment by Yumei Cai on August 17, 2012 at 12:49am I have been always love with Montessori Teaching since I left the Montessori classroom 5 years ago. After finishing my degree in Early Childhood teaching I started working in the mainstream early childhood settings! Even thought I was still able to implement my understanding of the principle of Montessori teaching in my preschool room but still missing the Montessori classroom environment very much!
Now I am a working home mum, conducting playgroup activity at my local area one or twice a week, thinking that if i could have a Montessori classroom at home for my toddler playgroup it would be really good! Question: Do you think I am able to have a Montessori Toddler Playgroup at Home? what is it going to look like? How much should I charge my students if they come with their parents to my place (or I can hire a room in the community resource centre near the library)? Am i able to sustain it financially as a business or should I do it as a home learning program for few children from my parent group?
Comment by Carolyn Wilhelm on July 18, 2012 at 8:07pm Deb, I guess I think that too, so I'm not sure if there is a leader. Thanks so much, Carolyn
Carolyn, we have Montessori homeschoolers and other parents who use Montessori principles at home in the We Teach Montessori group: http://www.weteachgroup.com/group/montessori. It would probably be fine to dissolve this group and have anyone who isn't in We Teach Montessori join our We Teach Montessori group.
Carolyn, I think she must have left We Teach. She made some comments initially, but they've disappeared. There doesn't seem to be a link to her profile any longer.
Comment by Carolyn Wilhelm on July 18, 2012 at 4:58pm Deb, do you know who the leader of this group is? Thanks, Carolyn
I totally agree that parents can use Montessori at Home affordably. I have lots of posts on using Montessori at home, including How to Start Using Montessori at Home along with many posts on DIY Montessori materials. I also have Montessori Moms Talk Montessori: Favorite Ideas and Activities, a collaborative eBook that's free to anyone who signs up for my newsletter. :)
