we teach

a place for parents and teachers to learn, share, and grow

It's hard to believe it's that time of year again!

I'm wondering what everyone is planning to do to celebrate the end of the year with their first graders?

This year we're planning a readers' theater performance on the last day of school.  We'll probably make our memory books that the students can get signed by their friends and they write about their favorite parts of first grade.  We usually have them write a letter to next year's first graders as well.  I also make a slideshow of all the pictures I've taken throughout the year and add some sweet, sappy, and fun music!

What are your ideas for the end of the year?

Do you have some good ideas for background songs for a picture slide show?

Thanks for sharing! :)

Has anyone heard of teachers who count down to summer vacation Z down to A and has something special for each letter of the alphabet going backward?  Has anyone tried it?  It sounds like a fun plan that would be exciting to the kids, and educational while also a count down to freedom for the kids!

Ohl Audrey, the music to play is IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD, the parents get tears in their eyes!

Oh yes, good idea! :)
