we teach

a place for parents and teachers to learn, share, and grow

I was wondering if anyone else is crazy busy in the summer? With kids off school, family vacations, and just being outdoors more, I think it can be hard to find time to blog.  I was also wondering if your blog is about your classroom, what you blog about in the summer? Does anyone have any good encouragement or tips for helping to manage your summer fun and writing your blog? Or can anyone relate?

lol - I can relate!  I was just talking to my kids about this exact thing (they're older so I try to involve them in conversations about my work schedule).

I always think traveling is such a great education tool, so blogging about that during the summer is something that you can do while still spending time with the kids.  I also use summer to observe/talk to my kids and their friends about what books they like, trendy things, etc. that I may incorporate into a future blog.  And we visit new places over the summer that tie into blogging and some fun learning experiences for them.

Such a great idea for a discussion!  Thanks Jackie!

Yes! I am really struggling with this. I want to keep my blog alive, maybe I will review a book I just read that pertains to EEC or maybe I will experiment with some curriculum ideas? None of that is As fun or interesting as the actual children engaging in an activity. I am very interested to read other thoughts on this. Thanks so much!

Last year I did a summer book blog party where you read a professional resource with other teachers and blog about your thoughts and reflections. It was so much fun. We did Literacy Beginnings and I totally didn't keep up with writing my posts but I loved reading everyone else's posts. There is one that I saw at Preschool Spot that looked good to me but I haven't gotten the book yet and it already started. It might be a good way to keep the blog going though...
