We made color palettes and went for a rainbow color scavenger hunt during a bike ride. This was a great activity for preschoolers and they're asking to do it again :)

Hi everyone. I've been neglecting my blog lately. I've been working on my Parent and Child Reading Assistance business. I have a booth at a Weekend for Families Summer Preview show this weekend. It's very exciting. It will tell me if my business is something parents want or if I've been living in a fantasy. Wish me luck.

Thanks for sharing Deb! Hey, I had a question about your photos. When I pinned them, a description like this showed up in the description part on the pin "Butterfly Counting Book by Deb Chitwood, via Flickr" so I didn't have to type anything in. Do you prefer that to be the description that people use when they pin? Did you set it up that way? I can see how it could be beneficial to set your own descriptions so that people don't try to recopy your whole post onto pinterest. Just wondering?

Thanks for asking, Jackie! That's just a new thing Flickr started doing automatically. I don't need it in pins from my site.

The only thing I do differently is that when I pin someone else's photo from one of my roundup posts, I'll typically use this format. For example in my DIY Dressing Frames and Alternatives post, if I pin the top photo, I'll put in my pin description DIY Dressing Frames and Alternatives (Photo from http://chasingcheerios.blogspot.com/2009/04/flower-button-board.html Roundup post from http://livingmontessorinow.com/2012/04/09/montessori-monday-diy-dre...). That may not be necessary since I have permission to use the photos I use and have them clearly credited and linked to in my roundup posts. But I like to credit the original source on Pinterest, too. If I don't credit someone else in my post, it's my own photo.

Great information. I've heard so much discussion about Pinterest and what to do with round up posts to make sure the photo is sourced to the original post. This sounds like a great solution.

How do you get permission for your posts? I've done a few round up posts but they take me FOREVER because I have to contact everyone and ask for permission. I love your round ups but how do you find the time? I think they are such a time consuming post to write!

Thanks, Jackie! I asked for blanket photo permission in a post a number of months ago, and I repeat my request in my monthly thank-you post. I've also emailed some bloggers directly asking for some sort of blanket photo permission. Then I save all the permissions in an email folder. Here's my post requesting photo permissions: Request for Montessori Photo Permissions.

I agree that roundup posts seem to take FOREVER to write (even with blanket photo permissions). I don't know how I'd do it if my kids weren't adults. Even with photo permissions, I still go to each blog that I use a photo from and leave a comment saying that I used their photo.

Thanks so much, Carolyn! Actually, I'm just a writer now. I had a Montessori preschool before homeschooling my kids through high school, but I just create materials now for kids whose parents or teachers are reading my blog posts. Of course, I have two adult children with wonderful spouses, so I'm saving the materials for my future grandkids! :)
