Hi yptanno,

I completely agree with Jane. watching english movies, listening to english stories and songs (available online) definitely help kids acuire the language smoothly.

Hi @zohra, welcome! Are you at an international school, too? We are doing the same - just finished reports yesterday, student-led conferences tomorrow, then one more week of school left! We have friends teaching in the UAE in Dubai, at the American School I think.

Oh, I hadn't noticed that more people had joined, I really thought there were no more EAL teachers out there, so I had stopped paying attention to this group, sorry. So glad to see you all here!

@yptanno, my suggestion would be to introduce him to some tv shows in English (if he watches tv), read him some books in English, and see if there are others in your area with English-speaking kids that you might be able to befriend - perhaps through expat groups? Where are you? Many cities around the world have international schools that are taught entirely in English, and many of them have summer camps that are open to anyone in the community (for a fee, of course). We are thinking of signing our daughter up for one this summer. They usually have a mix of native-English speaking and non-native-English speaking students of all proficiency levels. It's a great way for your son to be exposed to English, have fun, and meet other kids who speak English - could be a good way for you to make further contacts with families, too.

Hi everyone,

I teach EAL to Ist grade. Its end of the year for us in UAE, so we are busy with assessment, reports and packing away.

Is this group still active? I am looking for ways to provide my sons with more English exposure, as we live in a non-English speaking environment. Any ideas? Love to hear them.

Yay, Analia, thanks for joining this group - I was really wondering if I might be the ONLY ONE!
