Comment by Lacey Whidden on July 30, 2012 at 12:33am Hi all!
I am hosting a country wide post card swap! One class from each state will be accepted. All of the entries are first come first serve. What do you need? 49 postcards, labels (to make addressing and writing easy), and postage for each card. Please be aware that this is NOT a free project! It will cost a bit to buy those supplies, but I believe the swap will be worth it! I will collect each state's info and create a document with a label for each address, that will save you quite a bit of work! It's also a good idea to type out your message on a label and then have the kiddos attach them to the postcards, this will be a major time saver. ALL cards MUST be sent by the first of November. This will allow enough time for you to get them together and make sure they are all swapped in a timely manner. This is a great opportunity to teach letter writing, as well as social studies. I will probably read the postcards with my students, study each state briefly, Google Earth the address on the card, and I think it would be AWESOME to Skype with a class or two! :) (Let me know if you're interested in that as well).
Okay, now down to the nitty gritty....
So far I have filled slots for Florida (my state), California, and Indiana. THAT'S IT! I still have sooo many states to fill.
