we teach

a place for parents and teachers to learn, share, and grow

Hello Writing Parents! I apologize for being "out of the loop" for so long. I am due with my third child in less than a month. I've been very busy running after my two preschoolers and growing this one. That actually is what leads me this question.

Does anyone have links/ideas for ways to keep my three year old busy while I am nursing/changing diapers/rocking/burping her sister? I have this pretty idea in my head of her writing/coloring from an organized folder and showing me what she's done. (ha!) Seriously, I would like some educational activities to keep my three year old busy and involved with me, without it being glue, glitter, etc. I think you all know what I mean! I figured lots of writing (she knows all her letters) ideas would work well.

So... I'd love some ideas. Thanks! Lauralee

Check out the blog 1+1+1=1. She has lots of ideas, among them sets of printables for practice with letters. Another idea I've seen is to fold a paper into 8 sections. Then at the top of each square write something like "draw six yellow stars" or "write the S five times in red." You could do it in reverse, too, where you use drawings, stampers, or stickers and your child counts and writes the number.

Thanks so much! I'm getting ready to print and I will be heading over there to get ideas. :)
