Are you ready!?!? Has the 2013-14 school year started for you yet? I still have a few weeks, phew! So much to do! Every year I ask teachers about their classroom theme. I have been teaching first grade since I graduated from TCU in the spring of 2005. I have a special passion for integrating technology as you'll learn from my blog and my twitter posts. I LOVE sharing and learning new ideas!
I love the idea of students working at their own pace on the standards but not sure how our school will be able to figure it out schedule wise. Here is an example: If a k child is reading on 2nd grade level and working on 2nd grade standards he/she should be able to join a class that is working on the standards he needs...that means everyone in the school needs to be doing the same subjects at the same time...how do classes get in their specials, lunch??? Scheduling nightmare! I think it could happen if the child stays right in their own classroom and we continue to do our small grouping like we do but work on the standards.
So happy you've joined our forum, and we look forward to learning from you! Hopefully you will find this group as supportive and awesome as we all do, and you can find tons of cool ideas that you can use.
When you get a second, please stop by to update your profile--add a photo, some information, and join any and all groups that interest you.
Have fun, and we look forward to getting to know you--
